Week 7- Four steps flow

Updated: Apr 4, 2022

After deliberations, we have turned our app into an app for small favors between neighbors. We like to call it: "A Small Favor, For A Small Community."

4 Steps Flow:

Market research: To find out which apps are available today and how they work, we conducted market research. There is no point in making something that already exists or replicating mistakes that have already been made. This is why understanding the market is so important.

The apps:

Favorme

FavorMe is a social application that allows co-workers, neighbors, and roommates to connect and exchange favors. The favors might include activities such as picking up lunch or coffee delivery, running chores, etc. FavorMe is a gamified "pay-it-forward" trading platform where favors are exchanged for a social currency – Karma points that can be used later to request a favor in the future.

Faver

Faver is a mobile app that enables strangers to do each other favors based on their location. If you need something from a certain place, you can simply contact another user around there to help you out.

Favortree

Favortree is a new favor-trading app for smartphones that rewards its users for helping people in their neighborhoods. All app users have a virtual tree, and the more they help their neighbors, the more this digital tree grows. Using Favortree is pretty easy. Send out a message with your call for help through the social networks of you and your friends. Wait for someone offering help and make an appointment to exchange the service.

Neighbor Favors

Neighbor Favors is a community-based application to bring neighbors together and offer each other a helping hand. It is an exchange of time and money to build a stronger community based on work ethics and positive networking.

Nextdoor

Nextdoor is a social platform used to connect neighbors. It's like Facebook for people who live in your neighborhood. Nextdoor is a discussion-style platform where neighbors post updates, polls, events, ask for recommendations, and list items for sale. IOBY

Connecting with your neighbors is only one part of urban community building. When you want to unite residents—and sponsor innovative new projects and initiatives that'll change your hood for the better—there's ioby. The empowering crowdfunding platform mobilizes community members by giving them the tools they need to become citizen leaders, whether they want to introduce local mural projects or give area transit options an ambitious overhaul.

OLIO

Nothing brings people together like food, which is why OLIO is the perfect tool for delicious urban community building. The app invites individuals to offer up surplus food to those around them, from excess CSA veggies to extra portions from your latest pasta dinner. Nosh for free, say hello to your neighbors—and perhaps even walk away with future dinner party plans.

FREECYLE

Free stuff—it's been bringing neighbors together since time immemorial. But swag is only one of the benefits of Freecycle. A nifty international platform that connects those with extra food, housewares, supplies, and other odds and ends with those who could really use 'em, Freecycle helps foster connections amongst neighbors, emphasizes sustainability, and cuts down on waste. Nothing not to like, in other words.

PATCH

In a time when many media platforms are struggling to connect with audiences, hyperlocal Patch is on the up. A network of hundreds of individual news sites that are minutely targeted to local interests, Patch is indispensable for anyone interested in keeping up-to-date with the neighborhood scoop. Come for the local updates and job listings, and stay for the event calendars and group discussion boards.

Budge

Budge is a free and fun social app where you can challenge your friends to anything, including doing something good for your local community or an organization anywhere in the world. It creates a competition where players can win for fun, while those who lose get to donate to the worthy cause. This is a unique way to create community, participate in social causes, and have fun with friends who share your interest in helping others.

Pitch:

Problem - Those who live in tension-filled areas (war zones) face daily difficulties, stress and anxiety, and an inability to maintain a routine lifestyle. In an emergency, these feelings may intensify, and some people may find themselves dealing with them alone.

Solution - Increasing the sense of security and mental resilience through strengthening the community. With the help of a platform that encourages small favors within a small community, we will create a "Marketplace" for favors. This platform will enable significant connections to be built in the community and create a sense of mutual trust.

Target audience - Anyone with basic technical skills in the community, from teenagers to the elderly. The focus is on young adults and young parents, who have strong technical skills, a strong need for community and mutual assistance, and the ability to make communities active, as we found in the research we conducted.
